Pres. Jackson attends ribbon-cutting in Caribou

In Aroostook County, small business owners are more than just a part of our economy, they are active and integral members of our community. Donna Murchison is a perfect example of that. As the owner of Russell’s Motel she built a successful business promoting County hospitality while volunteering in the community and encouraging others to get involved.

Pres. Jackson congratulates Luchini on new role; Luchini resigns from Senate

Throughout his time in the Senate, Louie has fought to protect our proud tradition of free and fair elections, led the way on regulatory reform and advocated for greater investment in our small businesses and local economies. It’s truly been an honor to serve alongside him; it is an even greater honor to call him a friend. I wish him best of luck in his new role and have no dbout he’ll be a tremendous asset to the state in the Office of Advocacy.

Jackson, Dunphy introduce bill to support teachers in unorganized territories

If we truly believe that every child in Maine deserves a first-class education, then we will ensure that all school staff can access the same benefits, including school staff in Maine’s unorganized territories. LD 1780 is about equity. Every day the small but mighty staff at Connor Consolidated School in Connor Township, an unorganized territory in northern Aroostook County, go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. These hardworking teachers, education technicians and administrators deserve the same wage payment options as their colleagues in other parts of the state.

Pres. Jackson honored with Children’s Champion Award

I’m enormously proud of what we were able to accomplish for Maine children, families and child care providers this year. Today, we are one step closer towards a child care system that actually works for everyone involved, and it would not be possible without the organizations like MaineAEYC. But make no mistake, our work is not done.

Non-emergency laws championed by President Jackson, Senate Dems take effect

With more ways to participate in the Maine Legislature than ever before, Mainers set the legislative agenda this session, not special interests, political hacks or lobbyists. It’s how we were able to translate the stories we heard from constituents throughout the pandemic into legislative action, passing laws to rein in outrageous health care costs, provide meaningful property tax relief, honor our veterans and support survivors of domestic violence. That is how the legislative process should be.

AUGUSTA – Today, Maine’s Legislative Council unanimously voted to sign on to a lawsuit filed in the United States District Court in Bangor, seeking emergency relief related to the impending closure of Lobster Management Area 1. Jackson, Golden, New England Logging Cooperative meet with U.S. Labor Secretary

For years, Maine loggers and wood-haulers have raised the alarm about the misuse of foreign labor by large landowners and trucking companies. It seems clear that this practice violates federal law by adversely affecting the wages, working conditions and job opportunities for folks trying to make a decent living in the Maine woods. The fact that Labor Secretary Walsh took the time to meet with us today and talk directly with those harmed by this injustice really means a lot.
