President Jackson celebrate lower health insurance rates, more affordable coverage 

Over and over again, we’ve heard from lobbyists and special interests about the dangers of laws that shake up our health care system so it puts patients first. Now, we know the truth. Whether it’s the criminally high costs of prescription drugs or crushing insurance premiums, Senate Democrats have been steadfast in their commitment to make health care accessible and affordable for all Maine people. We’re not afraid to push back against abuses in our health insurance industry or call out corporate greed, especially when Mainers’ lives are on the line.

Republicans block special session for a second time

Despite overwhelming bipartisan votes in committee and months of calling for
the Legislature to reconvene, only two Republican lawmakers voted to reconvene, 4 voted against the proposal and 64 failed to vote at all

Over the past two months, Maine lawmakers – Democrat, Republican and Independent – have put aside their differences and put the needs of Maine people first by working together to wrap up outstanding committee work. And the results speak for themselves, with 74 percent of votes earning bipartisan support.
