President Jackson, Speaker Fecteau make case for COVID-19 Bill of Rights at public hearing

For more than 11 months, Mainers have hunkered down, worn their masks and done everything they can to keep their families and loved ones safe, all while experiencing extraordinary hardship. Now that we have two COVID-19 vaccines approved, the end is in sight and Mainers are anxiously waiting to get vaccinated and get their lives back. The COVID-19 Patient Bill of Rights will bring us closer to a world where we can hug our loved ones, a world where we can gather with friends in celebration or in sorrow and a world where we can simply be together in-person again. It marks the first step towards rebuilding our state and economy.

President Jackson introduces legislation to support and protect Maine Guide jobs

People all across the country have long come to Maine to participate in the outdoor recreational opportunities our state has to offer, whether it’s hunting, snowmobiling, hiking or fishing. It only makes sense to do everything we can to ensure that this economic activity supports Maine jobs and small businesses. This simple bill recognizes the skills of our Maine Guides and puts them on a level playing field with guides in other states, provinces, and countries.

President Jackson, Sen. Luchini introduce a suite of bills to support Maine’s restaurant industry

To me, this is a common-sense proposal that aims to support our breweries and restaurants, like First Mile Brewing in Fort Kent, who are finding creative ways to thrive and strengthen our economy as we begin to climb out of this pandemic. Whether you are from Fort Kent or Kittery, you know that Maine is a small business state. Our small business owners take pride in their Yankee ingenuity and innovation, even in the most trying conditions. I urge the committee to join me in supporting this measure and give our renowned food and beverage industry the flexibility they need to keep their doors open.”

Pres. Jackson’s bill to support LDA clears committee

This investment reaffirms the state’s commitment to revitalizing the Loring Air Force Base and expanding economic opportunity in rural Maine. More importantly, it shows the state’s commitment to the future of Aroostook County.

Pres. Jackson endorses measure to support snowmobile clubs and volunteers

In Maine, snowmobiling is more than just a beloved recreational pastime; it is a critical economic driver for rural parts of the state. However, much of the trail upkeep is costly and falls on the local snowmobile clubs, which are primarily volunteer-driven. It’s high time we invest more funds in the local clubs and volunteers to ensure that snowmobiling continues to support rural communities for years to come. I’m grateful that Rep. Danny Martin has put forward this bill and am looking forward to passing it into law.
